Route alignment update

Our discussions on the exact route for burying the cables remain ongoing given the highly sensitive ecology of the area.

Following our own detailed development work over the last 18 months alongside discussions with Natural England and other statutory consultees, we have revised our route to reflect both ecological and engineering considerations.  This revised route was agreed with the New Forest VIP project’s local stakeholder reference group in February 2018 and can be seen by clicking the link below.

The route deviates to the north of the original route to avoid crossing a sensitive area of mire in the valley to the west of Hale Purlieu.

Please note that this remains work in progress and the detail of this route is still being worked on by our engineers in discussion with stakeholders and statutory consultees.

The finalised route that we will take forward in our planning application will be based on this alignment and presented in detail at public exhibitions in July of this year.
